Solution Annealing
Heating to a suitable temperature (varies with grade and chemistry) and cooling at a suitable rate (varies with grade, physical size, and chemistry) to cause homogenous solution of alloy constituents to facilitate precipitation hardening. For some alloys special precautions are required (maintaining the material below room temperature via packing in dry ice) to preserve the Solution Treated condition until age hardening.
