Normalizing
Heating a ferrous (iron) alloy to a suitable temp. above its transformation range (unique to each grade and chemistry) and then cooling in air to a temperature substantially below its transformation range.
Normalizing results:
Refine grain structure improving mechanical properties and machineability.
Eliminate residual stress from cold or hot working or flame cutting.
